Safety on Sawarri

The tools built into the platform, and how to use them well.

Carpooling means travelling with someone you have not met. That is worth taking seriously, so the platform has tools built in for it — and there are a few habits that matter more than any feature.

What is built into Sawarri

  • Real accounts, not anonymous numbers. Everyone who posts or books has an account with a profile, rather than a phone number in a group chat that nobody can trace.
  • Verified drivers. A driver whose account has been checked carries a verified badge on every ride they post. You can see it before you request a seat.
  • Women-only rides. Drivers can mark a ride as women-only, and passengers can filter the board to show only those. Rides with a female driver are labelled.
  • Approval, not instant booking. A booking is a request the driver has to accept. Neither side ends up committed to someone they have not agreed to travel with.
  • Share my ride. Once a booking is approved you can send the route, date, time, driver and seat details to family in one tap, so somebody at home knows exactly which trip you are on.
  • SOS and an emergency contact. Your dashboard holds an emergency contact and an SOS button for use during a trip.
  • Report a trip. Anything that felt wrong can be reported to the Sawarri team directly from the ride.
  • Hide a driver. If you would rather not see a particular driver's rides again, you can hide them from your board.

Habits that matter more than features

Before you book

  • Prefer verified accounts, especially for a long trip or a night journey.
  • Read the ride properly — route, timing, pickup area and price should all make sense before you commit.
  • Talk to the driver first. A short conversation tells you a lot.

Before you travel

  • Agree a pickup point that is public and well lit. A marked chowk or a markaz beats an unnamed side street.
  • Send your trip details to someone at home using Share my ride.
  • Agree the seat price clearly in advance so there is no argument in the car.

During the trip

  • Keep your phone charged and reachable.
  • Trust your instinct. If something feels wrong, ask to be let out somewhere public. No trip is worth ignoring that feeling for.
  • In an emergency call 15 for police. Do that first and tell us afterwards.

If you are driving

  • You choose who travels with you. Decline any request you are not comfortable with — no reason needed.
  • Post the trip honestly: the real departure time, the real pickup area, the real price.
  • Get verified. It is the single thing that most increases the chance of your seats filling.
  • Make sure your vehicle and documents are in order. Sawarri does not inspect vehicles, so that responsibility is yours.

Please be clear about what Sawarri is. We are the place where a driver and a passenger find each other. We do not employ drivers, own or inspect vehicles, or supervise trips, and we are not a party to the arrangement you make. The tools above reduce risk; they do not remove it. Please use your own judgement too.

Reporting something

If a trip went wrong, or a driver or passenger behaved badly, report it from the ride itself or through the contact page. Tell us the route, the date and what happened. Accounts can be suspended, and they are.
