Gujranwala to Lahore every day? How drivers share the GT Road commute and split the fuel

Gujranwala sits roughly 70 km up the GT Road from Lahore, close enough that a lot of people make the trip daily for offices, factories, universities and the markets. Many of them drive alone. If you are one of those drivers, the empty seats beside you are fuel money you are leaving on the road.

The routes worth sharing

• Gujranwala to Lahore — the big one. Most cars use the GT Road through Kamoke and Muridke; some prefer the Lahore–Sialkot Motorway. Either way it is a commute of around one and a half to two hours depending on traffic and where in Lahore you are going.
• Gujranwala to Sialkot, Daska and Wazirabad — shorter daily runs for the industrial and export work around Sialkot.
• Gujranwala to Islamabad and Rawalpindi — weekend and Monday-morning trips north on the GT Road or via the motorway.

Where Gujranwala drivers usually pick up

Pick a point on your own way out of the city so you do not lose time. Common choices are Chanda Qila and the GT Road bypass, Sheranwala Bagh, Satellite Town and Gujranwala Cantt. On the Lahore end, say clearly where you drop: Shahdara, Ravi Road, Data Darbar, Gulberg or wherever your own destination is. Passengers can work out the last stretch themselves.
